A Rose & Ammi Wedding
There are weddings you remember for years. Not just because they were beautiful, though they were, but because every detail felt intentional. Every bloom chosen with care. Every corner of the room considered. Frankie and Adam's wedding at Barnbougle Castle was one of those days.
The Setting
Barnbougle Castle is a venue that asks something of you. Its oak-panelled walls, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves filled with centuries-old leather-bound volumes, and grand dining room demand florals that can hold their own, arrangements with presence, depth, and a sense of occasion. We knew from the very first conversation that this wedding called for something rich, romantic, and utterly abundant.
The Bouquet
The bridal bouquet set the tone for everything that followed. A deeply saturated, jewel-toned gathering of blooms that felt both wildly romantic and carefully composed, the kind of bouquet you could look at for a long time and keep finding something new.
Deep red peonies formed the heart of it, their full, silken heads catching the light. Around them, dark burgundy ranunculus spiralled alongside peach and coral varieties, creating depth and a sense of movement. Blush and peach garden roses added softness, while hot pink scabiosa, astrantia, sweet peas, and sanguisorba brought texture, air, and that signature untamed quality we love.
The Library Urns
The arrangements cascaded freely over the edges of the urns - peonies in deep crimson and soft coral, garden roses in blush and apricot, ranunculus in orange and coral, astrantia, snapdragons, sweet peas, and wax flower, all woven through with asparagus fern, trailing vines, and generous foliage. The overall effect was something between a Dutch master painting and a Scottish walled garden in full bloom.
Against the gilded spines of the leather-bound books behind it, the colours sang.
The Tablescape
The dining room at Barnbougle is long, grand, and steeped in atmosphere, dark green tablecloths, gold cutlery, crystal glassware, and wood panelling that seems to absorb and glow with candlelight. Our task was to dress it in a way that felt worthy of the room.
Running the full length of each table was a ruscus foliage runner, deep, glossy green that provided the perfect base for individually placed flower heads. Parrot tulips with their extraordinary feathered, painterly petals. Orange and coral ranunculus. Rich burgundy roses. Each bloom placed by hand, set down gently, one by one.
Rising from this green river of foliage were three candelabra per table, their tall burgundy candles casting a warm, amber glow that deepened as the evening light faded from the castle windows. From above, the room was a study in drama and romance, the kind of space you never want to leave.
The Flowers: Grown in Scotland
For a wedding rooted in the Scottish landscape, we wanted the flowers to reflect that. We sourced beautiful parrot tulips, double tulips, and foliage from McConnell Blooms in Perthshire, and extraordinary double copper and burgundy fringed tulips from Wildheart Florals in East Lothian. These locally grown stems brought a freshness and vibrancy that cannot be replicated by imported flowers - and a sense of place that felt just right for Barnbougle.
Alongside them: deep red peonies, ranunculus, astrantia, roses, and sweet peas, each one chosen to contribute to a palette that was rich, warm, and unmistakably romantic.
A Day Worth Remembering
Frankie and Adam's wedding was a reminder of why we do what we do. Every arrangement, from the first stem in the bouquet to the last flower head placed on the table runner, was made with the same intention, to create something beautiful enough to outlive the day, in photographs and in memory.
